Explore the details

IGCSE stands for International General Certificate for Secondary Education, and itis the International General Certificate of Secondary Education, which is an English language certificate for students from the ages of 14 to 16 years and is recognized by leading universities and institutions around the world.

The system was started and developed at the University of Cambridge, one of the most famous universities around the world, in 1988.

The system starts from the materials at the basic level, which are materials intended for preparation of the advanced level materials.

In contrast to the usual school system, the British secondary system is based on studying separate materials and examining them to measure the student’s knowledge at the end of the school year.

Cambridge offers a wide and varied range of programs and study materials covering areas as diverse as languages, humanities, science, mathematics, and the arts.

British high school subjects can be studied over a period of 2-3 years and are divided into 4-5 semesters. The evaluation is done through written, oral, practical, and research end-of-semester examinations.

Who administers the examination process?

The British Council manages the registration process, supervises schools and organizes examinations, in addition to being the authority responsible for granting the necessary licenses for schools to be granted the British high school diploma.

The British Council deals with schools, the schools deal with students and teachers, and it is unlikely that there will be any direct interaction between the British Council and students. All transactions must be made through the school where the student is registered.

Examination boards

There are three examination boards in the British Secondary School Certificate, namely Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and Oxford, and they have many similarities and some differences. Each of the exam boards provides many courses, and the methods of examinations in the courses are similar, and the differences may be in the curricula, their content and at the time of the exams, some subjects are more popular in an examination board than the other, and this depends on many factors such as difficulty and flexibility when it comes to re-training The exam is in the course.

Program Overview

Why is British High School different from other systems?

Learn what Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level qualifications are and what you can go on to do once you’ve achieved them.

Many differ on the reason for the popularity and preference of students and their parents in the British high school, and according to the opinion of many, it is because the system teaches students how to think, and broadens their perceptions. Whereas, in every semester, exam questions come in a way that tests the student’s understanding and ability to analyze information, and the examiner tests the student and his understanding by developing new questions, which eliminates the phenomenon of memorization and establishes the values of understanding and assimilation of information.

Also, many of the academic courses test the student’s ability to creativity, which makes him able after studying the British high school curricula to solve problems, present his ideas and think creatively.

What are International Advanced Levels?

Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Levels have been developed in consultation with educators, including teachers and university lecturers, to be relevant for international learners and support progression to universities around the world.

They differ from A levels in that they have a flexible, modular structure, but maintain the rigorous standards of all Pearson Edexcel qualifications and are comparable to the UK A level, as confirmed by NARIC. All subjects (except Law and IT) offer January, June and October examination windows, giving students more options when applying to local and international universities.

In 2018 we launched 8 updated subjects – Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Pure Mathematics and also a brand new Information Technology qualification, which our schools started teaching in September 2018.

IAL qualifications are available to students attending International Schools (outside the UK) and any students attending Online Schools. They are not available to schools in the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or in British Armed Forces schools overseas.
