About the IELTS?

IELTS, which stands for International English Language Testing System, is an English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration, with over 3 million tests taken in the last year.

Which one?

IELTS Academic:
You may take IELTS Academic test if you want to attend an undergraduate, postgraduate program or you want to work with a professional organisation.

IELTS General Training:
You may take IELTS General Training to study courses below degree level, to work or to emigrate to a country where English is spoken. IELTS General Training provides you with the language skills you need to engage fully in your target country.

IELTS Life Skills:

You may take IELTS Life Skills if need to prove your English speaking and listening skills at CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) Levels A1, A2 or B1.

IELTS Life Skills is only available at three levels:

IELTS Life Skills: A1 Speaking and Listening

IELTS Life Skills: A2 Speaking and Listening (offered only in the UK) *

IELTS Life Skills: B1 Speaking and Listening.

What is on the IELTS? And how long?

You’ll be assessed on the four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking; the full range of English skills needed for success in your new job or study placement abroad.

IELTS test lasts for 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are done in one sitting

Speaking (11–14 minutes)

'How are the tests marked?'

IELTS uses the scoring system of 9-band to measure and report test scores in a consistent manner. You will receive your individual band scores for Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing and an Overall Band Score on a band scale from one to nine.’
